Position Overview: The City of Jersey Village is seeking a dedicated and experienced Parks Supervisor to lead our parks maintenance team. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring our parks, right-of-way areas, and landscaped spaces are well-maintained, safe, and enjoyable for our community. Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the maintenance and construction of park facilities, landscapes, and infrastructure.
- Coordinate and manage daily operations, including scheduling, work assignments, and staff supervision.
- Oversee budget management, purchase orders, and resource allocation for park operations.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance and safety programs.
- Conduct regular inspections of park grounds, equipment, and playgrounds to ensure they meet high standards.
- Collaborate with community members, volunteers, and other city departments to support events and activities.
- Respond to citizen inquiries, complaints, and provide exceptional customer service.
- Stay updated on best practices in landscaping, turf management, and ecological care.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in parks, recreation, or landscape maintenance, with at least five (5) years of supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of plant care, pest management, soil science, and local plant species.
- Experience with landscape design, irrigation systems, and sustainable planting practices.
- Proficiency in operating landscaping equipment and tools.
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.
- Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) certification or ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment.
- Pesticide Applicator License or ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment.

- Ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and make decisions independently.
- Proficiency with maintenance management software and budgeting tools.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds and push, pull, or drag up to 150 pounds of equipment.
- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
- Ability to perform tasks that involve crawling, kneeling, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
