Position Overview: The City of Jersey Village is seeking a dedicated and experienced Parks Supervisor to lead our parks maintenance team. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring our parks, right-of-way areas, and landscaped spaces are well-maintained, safe, and enjoyable for our community. Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the maintenance and construction of park facilities, landscapes, and infrastructure.
  • Coordinate and manage daily operations, including scheduling, work assignments, and staff supervision.
  • Oversee budget management, purchase orders, and resource allocation for park operations.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance and safety programs.
  • Conduct regular inspections of park grounds, equipment, and playgrounds to ensure they meet high standards.
  • Collaborate with community members, volunteers, and other city departments to support events and activities.
  • Respond to citizen inquiries, complaints, and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Stay updated on best practices in landscaping, turf management, and ecological care.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in parks, recreation, or landscape maintenance, with at least five (5) years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of plant care, pest management, soil science, and local plant species.
  • Experience with landscape design, irrigation systems, and sustainable planting practices.
  • Proficiency in operating landscaping equipment and tools.
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) certification or ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment.
  • Pesticide Applicator License or ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds and push, pull, or drag up to 150 pounds of equipment.
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
  • Ability to perform tasks that involve crawling, kneeling, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
